Common Tern - Sterna hirundo

Naughty terns... they were making love in front of me :)
Well, all I needed to do is to take their picture.

Eqp. EOS 20D, 100-400L IS, Kenko x1.4 TC and a tent...

1/400, f13, ISO 400, 560mm

An excellent first post Elroyie. Love the behavior and the way the female is looking at the male. The reds look a little oversaturated to me.

Welcome to NSN.

Agree with Alan of the reds, but the interaction is priceless, Elroyie!

And post it on the internet . Serves 'em right for having a go in public. Terrific shot!

Shame on me :P

Thank U all for the critiques.

About the reds, these are the colours when straight sun strikes directly on their clean red beaks,
I have a lot of shots with the same tones, maybe when adding contrast with curves the reds went 'crazy'...
as a matter of fact, I like the contrast between the marginal colours of their body pure black and pure white with the red tips on the beak and on the legs.

By the way this is my second post, my first post was here:

but thank U any way :)

Hi Elroiye,
Very nice shot! :) Excellent action and great exposure! I don't think the reds are over saturated. I would crop it a bit more though. You are far too early with this post. Please refer to our posting guidelines and wait 48 hours before you post again..
Thanks,
Ofer
