in 2003, the first time I was at Rancho Las Ebanos, I got to see one pygmy owl in a hollowed out nest in a palm trunk. this time, one of the party could whistle one out and he sat in a tree singing back to us. Most of the shots I have are with him looking directly into the camera. This is with his head back and calling.
None of the shots had wonderful skies, so here is one of the best I could get. cropped about 40% 1D MKII 1000mm 1/250 sec, f/13 Mode: Av Metering: Center-weighted average Exp comp: -1/3 ISO: 400 AF mode: One-shot AF Drive: Continuous (high): frame 1 White balance: Cloudy Flash: Off Steve Bein
