Swallow-tailed Kite (Elanoides forficatus)
Taken on 07-10-2005 in Lantana, FL

Canon EOS 20D, 1/4000 sec, 5.6, Av, Flash Off, Evaluative, ISO 400, 400mm 5.6L, AI Servo AF, Raw

Hurricane Dennis passed last weekend, making the days overcast and windy. It also brought a few unexpected visitors along...

My first picture of a Swallow-tailed Kite. What a beautiful and graceful bird; this image does not do it justice! I didn't have time to grab the flash and better beamer. Maybe next time. Comments welcome.

One of the hardest birds to get good detail I've ever shot. You did very nice here.

Certainly one bird I'd love to see and photograph. You did well with tough conditions. Great detail in the whites.

An exposure nightmare, but handled very well here to give detail in all areas, and the flight pose is terrific
