Phalarope chicks, under the watchful eye of an adult, explore a small pond in Nome, AK.
The pond in which this phalarope family lived was pretty bird "dense." Within the *very* small area of the pond, there resided (or at least frequented) 4 red-throated loons, a pair of red-necked grebes, a nesting pair of artic terns with chicks, a nesting pair of gulls (I'm no good at gull IDs), at least one nesting pair of phalaropes with chicks and a long-tailed jaeger. Cheers! Phalarope chicks and adult, Nome, AK 10D, 1/800s, f/9.0 at 700.0mm, iso400 RAW, C1LE, PS CS Fullframe Joe McCabe
