Bateleur Eagle - Serengeti, Tanzania
EOS 20D, 500mm, 1.4x

I'm all messed up on the time zones since I went through a complete clock reversal - I think I'm posting early - sorry about that but I won't have time to post tomorrow morning. This Eagle was the last thing we photographed one night before returning to our camp. A gorgeous bird.

A gorgeous bird and good shot, of course. This looks like a juvenile just changing to adult colors - there is a
mix of brown feathers where an adult would have all-grey shoulders, looking at my copy of the SASOL "Birds of
Southern Africa" book.

Wow, great light on the background and it landed on a great perch. Excellent EJ.

EJ, this is an awesome shot. Great perch, and not normal to see this eagle so close to the ground out in the Serengeti.

I am looking forward to seeing more from our trip...

A very impressive bird. Love the similar tones in bird and perch. I imagine it could be quite well camouflaged.

Dave and I love these Eagles and their wobbly flight pattern E.J. You were indeed lucky to get one so close to the ground and this is a stunning shot in such sweet African light. Superb!! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) :D

This is my second favourite raptor and one I do not have any decent shots of

Absolutely love this one though EJ. Unusual to see then perch so low. Great stuff.
