American Goldfinch

F5, 600/4, 1.4X, SB28 @-1.0, Sensia 100.

This was taken in my back yard a few years ago. The perch was placed above the feeder.

I want your back yard. This is so sweet! I haven't a single nit.

Excellent as usual. :)

Another great one! I don't know how you do it.

How do you get the birds to go to the perch? My birds always bypass it and go straight to the food. Or do you have enough traffic that some birds use the perch to wait their turn.

Alan,

Gorgeous shot. The background colors are wonderful and complement the bird very well.

A.J. One trick is to use a platform feeder or tray type feeder. Once the birds are used to feeding in it, then place some cardboard over it with a small enough hole for one bird to feed in it. The other birds will stage on whatever perch you place near it while they are waiting. Thanks for the comments.

Good tips - and nice photo - the dark seed pods go well with the dark wing feathers.

OK, Alan. This is a great shot. I would like to order one of those perches and the BG. At least this time I have the goldfinches. As the orders start piling up you are going to find you will have little time left to shoot...so you'd better get out there now and get those perches ready.
