This was one of the four shots in a landing sequence I took couple of days ago. It all happened so suddenly and so fast that almost caught me unguarded!

Have been searching for a male Northern Shoveler with top plumage condition and this one had not disappointed me ... :roll:

EOS-1D Mk II, EF600/4L + EF1.4x
Incident @ zero, ISO 200, 1/1000s, f/7.1

You couldn't have caught a better frame than this one. That tail touching the water and the feet just before impact are terrific. This is really a cool shot....I love it!!

great landindshot! great pose and colors; even the ripple of the drop (from the beak?) in the water is a great! ( i only wonder how this one would have looked like with the whole reflection included); 8) 8) 8)

That mirror surface and the landing posture -- what an image!
As others have said, the timing was perfect. I love the way the tail feather has just contacted the surface.

Excellent framing!!! I love how the tail is just touching the water but the feet aren't yet.

That water is like glass, KK. You did a great job with this duck. He's still molting but still in nice plumage. The pose and composition couldn't be better.
