Common Kingfisher

This is my closest encounter with this species today. Near minimum focusing distance of my EF600, resulting in a frame-filling image. :)

1D Mark II, EF600+2x, f/11, 1/640s, iso800

I should be so lucky as to have a close encounter with this bird; a real beauty! The colors are very enticing, exposed well, and some of my personal favorites. 8)

Wonderful detail of a great bird. If this is a regular perch for him, I would try attaching a smaller branch and see if he will lnad on it. He'd look better on a smaller perch imo.
