To compliment Nick's Horned Lark. Taken in NE Colorado during a snowstorm. Lots of Merlins around instead of Prairie falcons. This will probably be a banner year for both since I've seen many more larks than previous years.

Very nice Rob. I like the low angle and the exposure is perfect.

Hi Rob, nice image! The snow really makes these guys stand out. I have lots of images from the summertime, but I think they look better in snowy conditions. It has been falcon city around here lately. I saw, but didn't get a chance to photograph, 2 peregrines, a merlin and a prairie falcon yesterday. The high winds at the tail of a storm had them zooming all over the place. After the heavy rains, the salmon are calling. Only fish pictures for the next few weeks (i hope)...Nick

I really like this image! Like how the OOF grasses in the BG keep the bird from getting 'lost' in the snow. Well done!

Very nice, Rob. The bits of dried grass are a plus. A lot of Horned Larks in our area as well.

Lovely. I saw these birds in Montana this summer but never got a good image of one.
