The exhuberance of youth! Lets remember back when the world was all new and exciting like it is for this young wood duck and his two siblings I shot a few days ago just over my back fence. They have been here all day every day since they hatched while I was in the Philippines in latter April. Their harried parents watch over them but can barely keep up with them. They are beginning to grow their wing flight feathers and will soon be learning to fly. Their world will expand dramatically.

Nice shot, Woody. I like the open mouth. Looks like a green cast is present.

Great shot Woody. I see the green cast too. I can't get enough ducks in my life either. :D

Apart from the color cast already been mentioned, it's a nice shot overall, Woody!
Any chance of lower your shooting angle at all in this case?

What an endearing image of a teenager. I love the open bill and the water is very pretty to set him off. I think he's saying, par-tee!

Thanks. I played with the color some and I did have a green cast as noted. Everything around here at my house is very green and reflects on the water giving a green cast to everything.
This youngster is very independant and often strikes off on his own. His two siblings for the most part stay together. Since they have been about a month old the parents have been around here very little and the youngsters have been on their own. They are almost the size of adult birds now.
