This Snowy Plover was photographed on Friday at Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area (north of Salt Lake City, UT).

Canon EOS 10D + 70-200 f/2.8L + 2x teleconverter
400mm, f/10, ISO 200

This is my first post at NatureScapes.net. I look forward to learning a lot here and improving many skills!

I'll bet you wish you had smooth water for this for a cleaner reflection. Regardless this is an excellent first post - welcome aboard!

Judd, Welcome to NSN. This is a great first post. I love the comp with the rock and reflection. Maybe a tad more sharpening on the bird.

Welcome to NSN!

Good composition but is let down by its image sharpness. Any possibility of getting nearer to the subject and use the EF1.4x instead? You are pushing it's limit of the lens as is ... :roll:

Nice first post, Judd. Because the reflection is not clear enough to show details of the bird, it does not help the image. I would consider cropping out the reflection and recomposing as a horizontal.

Welcome to NSN Judd. A great image of a great bird. A little soft but understandable with a 2x on a zoom. Hard to always get a sharp image but you did very well on this. Sandy crop suggestion is a good one.

Very pretty light and low angle. I like the crop suggestion although I also like this as is. The bird just needs to be a bit sharper.
