Subject: Yellow Bittern/Chinese Little Bittern Ixobrychus sinensis
Location: Lamma Island, May 30th, 2004.
EOS 10D, EF100-400mm L IS USM @400, ISO400, f/8, RAW, handheld (supported by fence), cropped ~70% of the original.

Haven't posted here for some time. Saw this guy hunting on a small piece of grass patch near a narrow stream. Sorry about the bz bg and fg. That day was an overcast so I think I could have used some flash. BTW, this guy was funny, it froze itself from time-to-time thinking we could not see it among the green! :roll:

Nice bird showing how it blends well into its environment. I might crop off the top and right side into a more pano format. The soft light worked well for you.

Yes, the soft light works well in this instance. I'd go with Mike's suggestion on the pano crop. Another point is that somehow I find the bright yellow patch just above the beak distracting ...
A nice capture nevertheless, Griffin! :lol:

Griffen, a much tighter crop all round for me. Love the position of the legs. Good job getting him in the open.
