Great Egret (Ardea alba)
Alligator Farm, St. Augustine, FL, on 6 Apr 2004

On an underwhelming day at Alligator Farm, I racked my brain for some potentially interesting close-up compositions with stacked teleconverters. This is one of them.

Thanks for looking. Comments, critiques, and reposts are welcome.

Beautiful shot. I find the stacked converters a godsend for many of my images and yours is spectacular. Sharp as a tack.

Sandy,

Another artistic gem. Also, another fine lesson in thinking before reacting. Thanks.

Sandy,

Great shot. I like the composition with the plumes. The breeding colors are wonderful.

This worked well with stacked converters. You really nailed the technique down on this image. I'm particularly impressed with your composition. I've seen a lot of headshots of egrets but this one including the plumes radiating out from its head is just plain artistic. A question about your settings, I see a clear shadow from the flash but your info states you had the 550 set at -3. Is that correct?
