White-breasted Nuthatch Sitta carolinensis
Santa Rita Lodge 4-17-04 I had so much fun chasing the Acorn Woodpeckers and Mexican Jays around the lodge area but an occasional WBN would catch my eye. In the afternoon when things were a bit slow. This little energetic one was feeding on bugs and spiders below one of the cabins pulling the critters out from between the rocks and bringing them down to this rock to put on a little show. I got lots of OOF bills and half a bird in the frame shots, but then this one just leaped off the light table and I'm quite happy I made the trip. I've never shot these little birds before and they are not easy but sometimes you just get lucky! Full frame. N90s, 500mm f/4P, 1.4x, SB-26 (-1.7), bogen 3021/BH-1/sidekick, Provia 100F Mike Wilson
