This is the second island we visited. It was more interesting than San Cristobal since there were moredifferent species going through courting which were close and easier to shoot.
he albatross were fantastic to see. The naturalist identified these as "Wave albatross" but I do not have a reference to that in my books. It might be a local name. I am surprised that I got this sharp an image with the conditions. The light was fading and this was hand held, braced as best as possible.

Steve, a very nice intimate shot. I do wish we could see more of the right birds eye.

Steve,

Very nice. The composition with the rocks and the grass in the foreground give this image a very intimate feel which I like. I agree with Alan about the right bird's eye, but I don't think it spoils the shot. Tough to handhold 350mm at 1/90. Good job.

Very nice behavior image, Steve. The Waved Albatross is an endemic species, breeding only on Espanola. Total population estimated at ~60,000 birds, including ~12,000 breeding pairs. They nest on the ground and mate for life. Your shot shows some courtship ritual !!! :D :D
