Great light for shooting these mostly white birds.
Are all of those muted grey spots at the top things in the water or dust on the sensor?

Nice shot! The light's great for the subjects. I'll vote that the dark spots at the top of the frame are OOF water/waves. :D

Yeah, this sure is a great shot Bart. Amazing how much better it looks on a PC screen than on the 10D screenlet.

The oof blurs at the top of the image are indeed waterwaves. The wind picked up out there. The spot where this was taken was in wind silent region just behind a big dyke.

Very nice clean image. Love the pose and composition. No nits from me. Maybe we should have a copulating birds motif some week? Sure seems like there has been a lot of them posted lately.
