I am not sure of the species. It looks like a Lesser Masked Weaver and the Village Weaver, southern race.

Does anyone know for sure?

Thanks,

Bill

Bill,

I do believe it's a village weaver which is common in the souther part of the african continent. I come from Maurtitius, an island off the southern coast of africa where this bird is plentiful. I went back there last year to visit the family and got quite a few shots of them.

Very nice; like the way you've got a crack in the foliage. I would guess village weaver, but I'm more comfortable with the guess that this was shot at Ngoritok (sp?) spring.

Gorgeous bird Bill and you did it justice. Sharpness, (with nice feather detail), exposure, color and composition are on the money.

Gorgeous colors and details on this bird, Bill. The image is tack sharp where it needs to be sharp and I love the framing. At first I thought about suggesting a crop of the bottom, then I looked again and decided that it is better and more balanced the way that it is because the space at the bottom leaves room for the implied tail of the bird. Nicely done!
