Northern Gannet (Morus bassanus)

Of the five days I spent in Helgoland in 2002, only one morning was evenly overcast, more like a blanket of fog was covering the Island, the winds were blowing hard as evidenced by the crumpled chest feathers on this bird, some of the best light that I have seen for contrasty birds!!
The technicals are buried in some 45+ CD's around the house, but this much I recall:
D1x, Raw, Centered weighted metering, aperture priority f/2.8, SS-unknown, Auto White balance and ISO-400, No flash was used, Almost lost my BB in the gusty wind!!
Any comments and or reposts are always welcome!!

Very nice clear image of the Gannet. In the circumstances I think you've done and excellent job of a flight shot.

Great shot! You sure nailed the exposure. I'd like to see one with the wing tips included just for comparison but the bird would be much smaller in the frame and probably wouldn't have the same impact.
