I took this today with a Nikon D1X, 600mm lens ,1/450, F5.6 and a fill flash. These little birds are incredible to see with their vibrant color.

Very nice shot, Judylynn. The contrast is a bit high, probably from the harsh light. A head turn toward the camera would also be nice. I like how you left room for the bird's virtual tail.

Lovely photo. You're very lucky to get such a close shot at almost eye level. Everytime I've seen them here, they are at the top of trees.
