This guy was letting it all out at Huntley Meadows in Alexandria VA 2 weekends ago. Cloned out a distracting OOF branch, cropped to vertical.

Digital Rebel, 400mm 5.6 + 1.4 TC, 1/200, f/9.

Doug,

I really like the background and the calling pose. If he would have been looking toward the camera at the same angle as he is looking away this would be over the top. Still a very nice image as is. :)

Nice one. The BG is tops, perfect exposure. Nicest bird-on-a-stick I've seen in a while :wink:

Top notch moment in time of this red-winged Blackbird protecting his territory. Great size of bird and frame and more than wonderful BG. :lol: :D :o :shock:

This guy is definitely excited about spring - the setting & technicals are just great on this one. My only nit is that I'm not sure the vertical orientation works for me, since the bird is not in a vertical pose.
