I hope we're not wearing these birds out for everyone but they are so magnificent and I had such a great time photographing them alongside Roy that I couldn't resist posting my take on the day.

There were up to 4 birds at a time repeatedly for over 2 hours and I have them at all angles but I liked the dynamics of this one coming at the viewer.

I'm going to be there this Friday. Where are these guys located?

Hi Ron:

It was a lot of fun photographing these kites with you and Joel. You present a different view here and it's as Killer as all the others prosted so far. I really like this head-on view. I too have many images in different positions. With these beautiful magnificent flyers, almost any capture can be KILLER. I'm waiting for Sandy to post one of his images. I'll wait awhile before I post another one. We don't want NSN'ers to get tired of them. BTW, A nest has been discovered in the area, so I'll be checking that out on Saturday.

I look forward to see other captures from your trip down here.

Regards,

Roy

Definately, the eye contact is great, along with the diagonal comp.

Hi Ron:

Very nice shot. Sounds like this was a pretty special 2 hours. Can't wait to hear about your trip & see the results.

This shot is just as sickeningly good as its predecessors. If these birds repeat this performance next year, I'm on a plane ...

Pete asked where the kites were performing. Right in the parking lot at the Royal Hammock/Anhinga Trails. I just happened to show up that day for the regular parade on the Anhinga Trail and Roy Bentley was generous enough to tell me about the show. However, based on AlexC's last posting, it sounds like it's winding down for this year. You might want to check with Alex or Roy.

I might add that I had the same experience all over Florida. Photographers at all of the top spots were kind enough to share their location tips with me. I got a lot of photos as a result of their generosity. I want to thank Sandy Mossberg in particular (along with Roy of course) for clueing me in that Ft DeSota is an easier shoot in the afternoon. I changed my intinerary based on this advice and had a great afternoon there on 31 March.
