After several attempts I was able to get a photograph of a tree swallow in gorgeous light.
The tree swallows have just gotten back in our area and are busy checking out nest boxes. Despite my attempts to get this fellow to land on a different perch he much preferred this one.
In PS, cropped to 8x10, removed flash highlight in eye and sensor dust, levels and USM.

Sweet shot Wil! Nice and sharp. You should carry some duct tape in the field for times like this...;) Very nice.

Beautiful Wil. I'll even say I don't mind the perch. Ya know why? Because that is where these guys perch...crappy metal posts or wires. I'd almost question a "beautiful perch" as being unnatural. Gorgeous shot.

Excellent image of the swallow! Now that you have this one in such wonderful light attach a "real" perch to that post and have another try at it.

I agree with Chris! This is a gorgeous shot - and this is where they will perch nine times out of ten!!

Wonderful image Wil! 8) 8) :)

Beautiful light, pose and background. Even the perch is so weathered that I like it. Perfect exposure too. Nice shot Wil.

Jim,
I was thinking the same thing. The post has a lot of character for a rusty metal fence post. I have grown to like it better. I am glad that it matches the background so well.

Thanks everyone for your comments :)
