Image shot Wednesday at Wakodahatchee. I spotted one of these birds working its way through the vegetation and began shooting its feeding behavior when suddenly another gallinue appeared. The second bird, a female, began this posturing behavior and after several tries, got the male to climb aboard and mate. I've never seen this behavior before and feel privileged to have seen & photograph it.
Canon D60, 600mm IS, ISO200, 550EX/BB -1 2/3, RAW. Slight crop on top.
Comments welcome.

Lovely colours though I've a slight nit about the composition - the male almost looks as if he sticking head and shoulders through a cutout. If you had another shot showing his undercarriage it would work much better for me but then perhaps you would have lost the great posture from the female ?

I like the turquoise feathers! Amazing colors and great timing to catch this. What is the composition of that very anti-freeze colored water in the LLC?

Juli, thanks for your comments. I also noticed the strange look of the water in the LLC, and I have no idea why it looks that way. Hopefully it's just glare or something else and not anti-freeze!

Cool shot Rich. 8) I've had PGs raise three broods right next to my boat dock and I've spent alot of time watching them, but I've never seen this before. Great job capturing this behavior. Did he rake her back with his talons? I've seen them do that just before mating.

Yes Jim, he did rake her back and then quickly jumped on her back. The mating lasted about 2-3 seconds and it was over. I missed an image of them mating because I had too much lens for the shot and couldn't back up in time.
