After being away for 5 days it's good to be back posting, I took this shot last week. This is still with the sigma 70-200 + 2X tc combo. Today arrived my 300mm AF-S 2.8 Nikkor and hopefully I have the time to go out and test it and post some pics with that lens. This photo is full frame and shot at 250mm, 1/180, f8, fill in flash compensation +0.7EV. All comments and suggestions always welcome.

Kind Regards,
Yanni.

Excellent exposure, sharpness, and detail. I love the jeweled eye.

Excellent shot.

Wonderful headshot. The slight tilt of the head makes this.

The eye is nice; am missing some feather detail since the image is such a close-up. Is this film or digital? Hand-held or tri-pod? The flash was +0.7? Just trying to figure out what is making the white so smooth. :)

Excellent mug shot of a wonderful bird, the smoothness of the face feathers is interesting and you are going to love the 300mm-afs-f/2.8 !!

Juli,
I used a monopod, taken in the local park here with a D100. The bird was cooperative as it was sitting on the lap of homeless person on a bench under a tree. The flash was at +0.7. I used that setting experementing after I show here Sandy I believe using it in one of his posts. In Nicon Capture I apply level 2 noise reduction which it would further smoothen the areas.
