(Young Male African Elephant) Lake Kariba, Zambia, Africa

I know he's only digging for food but just imagine if this guy was mad at you on the beach and decided to kick sand on you!

Handheld from the back of a long boat using a Nikon D1, 80-400 VR, ISO 200, Program Mode, 1/350, F9.5 @ 400mm. Leveled, cropped and cloned in some missing sand due to leveling.

Nice shot Tony. I like the kicking the sand. I'm not sure about the birds though. Their necks seem a little hot and they are OOF enough to be a distration IMO. But the elephant is cool.

Tony, the kicked sand is great! The birds framed by the legs would be great if they were in focus. He sure does look like a big bully.

Lovely shot again Tony,

I did a tour on Kariba from the Zimbabwe side. We both had similar experiences I guess. 'Our' male was not on the sand, but in the water. The herons were everywhere and that's why I like this shot with the birds. It's just typical Kariba.

Cheers

Tony, Great shot. I like the low angle of the pic so that the BG is out of focus. The sand kick is what makes the image. Exposure and sharpness are right on. Not bad for program mode! I didn't know people still used that mode???

Cheers,

James
