Thanks for the Image of the Week for my Fisher #1 :!:

When I started this series I thought the owls were tapering off but that hasn't happened yet. Also, I thought that the fisher would be coming in frequently but it has been quite illusive and that was the only time I have seen it so far.

This one was taken at the same time as my first post. I would have liked a little more of the animal on the bottom but this is all I managed to get.

1D2, 100-400 @ 285mm, 1/640 @ 6.3, ISO 400, Manual Exposure, handheld, cropped from horizontal.

Comments and suggestions welcome.

I love this one! That snow and the tongue really push it over the top!

I'm envious! (While I have seen two fishers in the wild, I've never photographed one.)

Elenor,

This is way cool. I would only crop/position the subject a bit higher right in the frame.

Way to go. And, good job with the exposure

Best,

Eleanor,
When I saw the thumbnail I assumed it was captive. I am very impressed that you scored such a fantastic image in the wild. A very deserving prizewinner.

Another great one! The contrast of the red tongue is really great! What can you do when your nose runs in the cold :)

Eleanor- I think you need to hold out a bit longer for a really, really good picture and stop teasing us with these images that are merely excellent. :P

Congrats on last week's pick! I like this one even more. You must have been extremely quick on the shutter to catch that tongue.

Well, just color me jealous that you've got this guy in your backyard. Tongue and snow are great. Might try just a tiny bit of the shadow/highlight tool to get just a bit of detail through the chest.
