On my way back to the parking lot at Bolsa Chica today when someone mentioned that there was a snake in the rocks just a couple of meters off the path. It had eleven rattles FWIW. I don't know how many times they molt in the course of a year so I've no clue as to how old it is. I would guess that it was about 2 1/2 or 3 feet long but I may be wrong about that too.
