With well over 50 manatees present and wonderful weather throughout our stay this proved to be one of the best manatee workshops ever.

The EWA Marine Bags used allowed everyone in attendance to house their digital cameras (including 2 Mark II bodies) for UW use. The housings proved flawless in waterproofing our equipment.

1D Mark II, 16-35mm @ 16mm in EWA Marine housing.
Exposure- Av mode f/8 @ 1/125, ISO 400

Best all,

Man, that's the funkiest looking manatee I've seen.
Another Chas special.

I like the unusual perspective you chose here, though it's a shame you clipped the flipper.  I'm amazed at how crystal clear the water looks. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you do this workshop again next year.

sweet

I especially like the fact that you were able to get the manatee tattooed at Lex's Tattoo Parlor, back in the water and also got the watermark copyright tattoo so clear in the shot. Very well done!

Chas, I am so glad that I came on to see this. This photo and some of the other photos from your workshop are great. :) I was wondering if the EWA-Marine housings worked well. I am going to Hawaii in late April and wanted to purchase a marine housing for my Canon DSLRs to shoot subjects like the green sea turtles and fish that reside in the tidepools. However, I live in landlocked Oklahoma and didn't want to spend several thousand dollars on an underwater setup that I will barely use. I notice that the version that I was looking at is ported for lenses with a 77mm filter size which would be perfect.

Cool shot!

The watermark reminds me of one of Gary Larsen's Far Side cartoon. A buck deer has a bulleye's on it and the other deer saying, "Bummer of a birthmark Hal."

This is awesome! The light is really wonderful, and that without the need for fillflash! The composition is very good and I love the background with all its textures and colours.
