Folks often say to me, "Oh, you are a bird photographer. You must have great patience." I tell them that I have the patience of an ain't...
A friend wanted to visit an old guide of hers at another camp during our midday break on the recent Kenya Photo-Safari. I joined her and brought my 100-400 along. I opened the window of the truck and was making some "blurred grasses pattern images" when we started rolling by some herd animals at about 35mph, so natch, I tried photographing them from the moving vehicle. Heck, digital is free, right? Most of the images featured unrecognizable blobs or animals without heads or rear ends, but this one (somewhat miraculously) worked for me. If you have nothing better to do, you might as well try to make some pix... Canon 100-400mm lens at 220mm handheld with EOS 1D Mark II. ISO 100. TV mode. Evaluative Metering +1/3 stop: 160th sec. at f/16. All comments welcome. Best and love to all, artie Arthur Morris/BIRDS AS ART
