Scaredy Cats

EOS10D, Sigma 100-300 F4 + 1.4TC, ISO 200, F8.

The Lionesses creep closer, inch by inch...........the Elephant has had enough! He trumpets loudly and charges!

Suddenly the cats aren't so brave and the stand off is broken!

For those of you who put your money on the Ele........well done!! 8)

Smart cats! Even the feast of a lifetime isn't worth the risk of getting really flattened. Loved the series!

Very cool shot, Carol! 8) 8) 8) I love the "tilt" of the elephant and the way that the lionesses are scattering in all directions. Light and colors are awesome!

This is great Carol--glad I bet on the Elephant. I saw part of a documentary a few weeks ago where young Elephants were a group of Lions favorite prey item--forgot where it was filmed.

Lions or Chickens!?

Do I see one lion holding her ground? (Or not running away quite yet, anyway?)

Thanks Daniel, the middle one is the one who was laid in front of the Ele in both 1 and 2, the one on the left was just out of shot to the left and the one on the right was just out of shot on the right. I did explain where they were in answer to a question on shot 2. :)

Yes Paul, the oldest Lioness was the very last to move - certainly more staying power than the younger ones, but she did get up and move pretty quickly a few seconds later! :)
