Yup that's a croc all right!
Wasn't the low angle slightly perilous?

Wonderful capture and the low angle is a bonus, Looks like a mature Croc to me and pretty massive, Unless they are Mega size they give the right of way to the Hippos, In a Hippo pool Crocs are guests at best!!
Congrats!! 8)

LOL, exactly what came to mind when I saw the image load.

Another great shoot

Must be quite the experience on your belly one direction and take Hippos roll over and take images of Crocs...too cool.

Its not only the danger of being down on the ground at the edge of a pool full of potential danger - but also laying in a mess of mud and poop!

Now that's dedication to the art of wildlife photography!!

Thanks all for the comments.

It's actually not as dangerous as one might think.
Our guide was also a photographer and understood my need to get low. He let me out of the vehicle on the condition that if he said move, I moved. He was stood behind me, watching the water for any signs of impending doom.

The hippos are not really a problem as long as they are in the water and you're not, and the crocs, well the water was fairly shallow for a few feet out from the edge so our guide would have seen one approach.......or at least that's what he told me

Nice! And what dedication!

I do wish he wasn't angled slightly away from us, though.

OK, I'll buy the hippos and the crocs - well, maybe the crocs. But on the ground with the lions? And how many times does a lion open it's eyes "while sleeping" just to check out the scenery? :)

I do like the shot a lot, and of course it's the low angle that really makes it.

I love reptile shots--especially great ones of the huge ones! The angle and light are great!
