At Last Light

Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia.

EOS10D, Sigma 100-300 F4 + 1.4TC, ISO 200, F8, 1/50 - 2/3. Natural Light.

Just back from the most memorable two weeks in Zambia.

As always, the wonderful light at sunset paints a sweet image as this Elephant heads off towards the trees through the grazing Zebra and Impala.

I look forward to catching up with all your images posted while I was away! :)

A nice elephant in beautiful light but I think I would have liked a slight head turn. I am looking forward to see more. Where in Zambia were you?

Thanks Tobias, I have lots facing and coming towards me too, but I liked this scene and the light. We stayed at Sausage Tree Camp in the Lower Zambezi National Park. Stunning scenery and amazing wildlife - animals and birds. 8)

Thanks Alma, we had an amazing time and can thoroughly recommend Zambia as an awesome place to go to experience the real Africa away from the crowds. Not being fans of racing from place to place on a tour, (there is enough travelling and planes just getting there!) we spent the wole time at Sausage Tree Camp on the banks of the Zambezi river in the Lower Zambezi National Park. The park is vast and so much to see and do with both land and water activities and trips and wonderful wildlife, that we didn't have time to get bored! We were out and about all over the countryside for a minimum of 8 hours each day and have taken almost 5000 pics. We booked through Hartleys Safaris (they are on the web) - they have been doing Safaris since 1838!! and the details were all handled impeccably. Our website will eventually have some of the pics and my written notes on our time there if you are interested. :)

Wonderful light and details and I love the zebras in the background...now you are making me want to go to Africa, when I finish traveling up here in Alaska, of course. Looking forward to more of your shots.

Carol, I love this image!!!! It's picture perfect to me, especially with the groups of animals in the BG. The setting is surreal and glorious!!!! :D :D :D

This is the best shot of an elephants rear end I've ever seen--it's in perfect light and his head is turned just enough toward the camera. Congrats Carol!
