Nikon D1X, 80-400VR at 164MM, F6.3 @ 1/250

Early one morning in the Masai Mara we came across this lady. It is amazing to see the diversity of animals there and how they rely upon each other for sustenance. This adult zebra gave itself up for a family of lions. Watch and see which other creatures benefit from the lion's harvest.

Len, I can tell this is going to be a wonderful series. A whole month of posting 1 Africa photo per day?

Good stuff.

My only wish is for a little more room on the RHS and less on the LHS.

That golden light is wonderful! I look forward to watching the rest of the series.

Nice photo. The shadow that's cast on the left side of the image is unfortunate. Did you try to get the lion to move over? (Ha!)

I have enjoyed your leopard series and look forward to seeing your other African series. In this image a little more head turn toward the camera would have been nice.

Congrats on a fine image anyway!!!!

eagle43, thanks.

I think if I had gotten out of the vehicle I could have gotten her to turn her head toward me. At the time I just never thought of trying it. You know, so many other thoughts going through your head.......! F stop, shutter speed, etc. :)

Actually, she was looking at interloping vultures.

Very sharp, clear and well-exposed. I think it looks great because a whole story is right there in one photo.
