I am sure everyone has seen this little guy by now but I thought I'd post my version anyway.

I made this image at the Triple D California Special a few weeks ago. After setting up the shots for all seven of my students, I snuck in and got a lucky pose from the youngster.

I used a low angle to help give him (Oscar is his name) the sense of dominance that he will soon possess. It was a fun day.

Canon 10D, 100-400 f/5.6 "L" Zoom, ISO 400, handheld.

Thanks for looking.

You sure captured a great moment with this little fuzz ball. They're adorable at this size, though I don't think I would want to be in this spot in a year. The eyes appear a bit too blue and over-saturated on my monitor, but otherwise a cool picture.

I am curious about one thing in your post; do you really set up your students shots, or was this just a figure of speech?

Not so much set them up as coach them. Help them with exposure etc. I tend to shoot while I teach but I make sure they get the best shots first. In this case I thought we were done when the little guy just ran up on the ledge in front of me.

Like many of my favorite images, it was mostly luck.

Sorry about the blue on your monitor. Looks perfectly natural on mine.

Cute shot Scott. I do find the eyes a little out there but maybe that's what they look like. The rest seems a little washed out and cold to me.

Nice one SB, I like seeing the open mouth and the feet. Looks like the sun was starting to get a little high. I vote for a little over on the sat on the blue eyes... Great action here and thanks for contributing to the forum..

Those cute baby eyes were amazingly blue in person.

I can vouch for Scott's teaching . . . he always makes sure that everyone has an opportunity for the best shot. If it turns out that the good shot is where he is, he'll move out the way and put you there.

Scott and David Middleton at OMSP are always talking you through the shot - making sure that you're thinking about everything from background to exposure. Their advice is so strong that I've now coined the term: "Middleton Mantra!"
