Serengeti, Tanzania. Spotting this newborn was the key to getting this image. We stayed with him and mom for about 30 minutes and shot from a distance as he got his legs and started to run. Most of my images have him running alongside mom and fortunately closer to us. This is the only image where he is separate and running with other zebras. He probably was born within 2 hours of this image as he's still wet. I could have cropped out the incomplete lead zebra but wanted to show the whole image.

10D, 600IS, 1.4X, ISO200, EV-2/3. no crop.

Nice capture, Jim. It's amazing how these plains animals get off and running so quickly after birth.

Nice that you were able to get it between the two adults!! I didn't get to see any newborn zebras. Good motif shot too :D

Great capture. I like the new born between the two adults it really adds to the real life feel of the image. Mum's and the herds protection.

A great memory image as well of your trip I bet

A few hours old and that big, and running. Wow, mother nature gets 'em up and out fast!

Nice shot, Jim.
