I posted a different image of this same moose a while back, but it seemed fitting for this week's motif. I had seen this moose 3-4 days earlier, completely healthy and with a couple of small bulls. When this was taken, he was browsing normally and seemed to be coping with the injury.

I assume he took a tine in the eye since this was in the middle of the rut.

Hope this is not what I think, i.e., eye fluid rather than a discharge from around the eye. Is there a Vet in the house?
I have always wondered how they manage not to injure their eyes when locking horns.

I'll bet this injury is alot more common than we think. Good image showing the dangers of rut for deer, elk, and moose.
