Motif: Spectacled Caiman

Here's one eye you don't want staring you down. Taken in the Pantanal in Brazil last November. One of many Spectacled Caimins in the river which was, well, less than 100 feet from the entrance to my lodgings.

Canon Eos10D + 400mm f/5.6 @f/10. 1/200th sec. Slight crop to emphasize the eye, but yes, I was pretty darn close to this guy.

Chris,

Very cool shot. I love the colors and the reflection and I would not want to be so close to that eye! Looks like it could use more USM. Thanks for posting in wildlife.

Wow! Now that is really close. I really enjoy seeing the eye detail here, interesting pupil in these guys. The reflection adds even more impact to the photo.. Thanks for sharing in Wildlife.

These animals (cayman, crocs, gators) seem a natural for this week's motif, as they float with just their eyes and nostrils above water. No midnight swims for you there, eh? :) Nicely imaged.
