Image
Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) – Maasai Mara, Kenya.

Canon EOS10D, 600/f4 +1.4xII ext, beanbag.
Aperture priority exposure mode, f8, 1/250, iso 200.
Full frame.

This is another image of Kike (at the back) and off-spring, photographed at the end of January. I wanted to blur the cub in front but ensure that the other two animals were sharply focused. This heads-up pose only lasted for a couple of seconds and I got off two shots, one at f5.6 and this one at f8.

Great to see Kikei.

Too bad of the cup in front. The ear distracts me. I think you did the best what was possible. I love the expressions.

Were all three cups still healthy/alive?

Phil, Lovely portrait of the two with great detail. It is nice you have the eyes lit up as this is often hard to do with the cheetahs. I think it looks good with a square crop just above the third cubs head but I also think the image of the two is strong enough that the OOF third cub is only a very minor distraction. Thanks for posting to the motif. It was great to see you again in AK.

This would make a beautiful large print. I agree the OOF cub is a slight distraction, but miniscule compared to the overall shot.

I like the image presented and also like the square crop idea to include just the two in focus. nice color, detail and simultaneous look from 2 of your subjects. very nice image.

Phil,
Top-flite image. The close-in cub is not a detraction in my eyes. Lovely photo.
