White Sands National Monument
New Mexico

White Sands is like a playground for photographers. The dunes, the ripple patterns, the vegetation, are all fascinating subjects.

While I usually try to exclude footprints from my images, this time I thought the zig zag pattern was neat and incorporated it into the image.

Digital Capture with Canon 1D
Canon 70-200mm (non IS) at 70mm
Evaluative metering -1.3 for 1/15 at f/32
ISO 250
Tripod with Wimberley Sidekick

Interesting, minimalist graphic image. I'd be tempted to crop off the sky. there appears to be just a bit of barrel distortion which is easily remedied with software.

I am not sure what "barrel distortion" is, but if you mean the curve of the dune at the top I believe that was what it looked like in reality.

I like it too. I seem to like it w/o the sky more though. It seems a bit flat.

Cool shot Heather. Did you make Greg walk to dune to give you this pattern?
