With the 10inches of snow melting and an inch of rain overnight with warmer temps, living along the creek is all to familiar. Shot this image today as im working on a small porfolio to show the chief photographer/editor at my local newspaper. Comments always appreciated!

Thanks for looking,
robert..........

Good luck with showing your portfolio. A few hints as to what newspaper photo editors want: They like very tight shots that tell the story with no distractions. Since you're making a portfolio try going out and shootsome pictures of kids playing or people engaged in a conversation. Concentrate on the faces and look for expressive ones. You can clip the heads, have virtually no BG, etc. They just want something that smacks you in the face and tells the story without words. Tonight for example I have to get some photos of kids getting presents from Santa. I'll just look for an image where both heads are very close together and the kid has a big smile. The tree, presents on the floor, and any of the other BG material would be just dead space to the photo editor. Anyway...good luck and I hope I gave you some info that you can use.

Did the officer wonder what you were doing sneaking up low like that?

Great tips, Harvey, extremely helpful.
