I thought I remembered seeing something about software that helps in creating pages of thumbnails of all the images when creating a CD/DVD backup, but can't seem to remember where. Anybody know of such a thing? Just got a DVD burner, and want to get started on the right foot.

Thanks for any pointers!

I know I'm replying to myself, but somebody on another board reminded me that what I was thinking of was PictureFlow's Archive Creator - I had seen it when I purchased C1 LE.

Archive Creator is nice because it splits an archive automatically across several disks. The best way to archive is not using the automated thumbnail/index it can create. Instead the best long term method is to archive to DVD your keyworded files using Archive Creator, then import those disks into Extensis Portfolio which will thumbnail and scan the imbedded iptc/captions and keywords adding them to it's database. Then in the future when you need to find an image you either search visually via it's thumbnail browser or do a keyword search. It will tell you which disk, or hardrive for that matter, your image is stored on so you can quickly and efficiently find the file. It does a lot more too.

I think you will be a lot better off long term with a system like this.
