I have seen a number of you using the double bubble on the Canon Off Camera Shoe Cord 2. That is a great idea. I miss having the level when using flash. I suppose it could be glued on or a basic shoe bracket could be screwed or glued on.
I'm wondering how YOU did it?

Steve, I use crazy glue. Greg uses some kind of bonding agent.

I use Master Mend fast-setting epoxy that you buy at Home Depot. It is a two part system and comes in a syringe type applicator.

I rough up the surface of the bubble as well as the top of the shoe cord before applying enough glue to allow some to squeeze out around the edges of the level. I have three cords with bubbles mounted and they never come off. I have one that has been on there for more than 3 years.

Greg:

Sounds like you have discovered the solution to always being able to find your bubble level. Mine is always temporarily misplaced:)

Sandy, Greg,

I have a dumb question. What do you do when shooting landscapes or something not requiring a flash cord to be attached to the camera?

BTW, the glueing of the bubble to the flash cord is a very good idea, I never bothered replacing mine after it disappeared :( .

There are no dumb questions...;)

I have a loose one that can be mounted to the hot shoe of the camera. Since I don't shoot much other than birds I almost always have my flash cord mounted.

I also made my own, I picked one up from Home Depot. I glued a hot-shoe flash mount to the bottom of the bubble level and when I need it I just add it to my camera, like if I was adding a flash. This works great but you have to make sure you have your tripod level as well.

Good luck.!

Hey guys, I have been doing this for years :). You can get small flat shoes and glue these atop the cords, sliding the level in when needed. This allows you to use the same level with and without the remote cord.

Chas, Maxis,

I'm lost. Are you talking about the Hama bubble level or something different? Can you provide a picture of this setup? I think I'm missing something.

I made my own bubble level, read my previous post, I just ask Chas if I can get one of his order, I just would like to have a different one just to compare.

About the picture sorry I can't. Maybe the digital shooters can

I'm not sure I understand what you're talking about either. In this case, a picture would be worth 100,000 words. :)

From what i understand people are taking the off camera flash cord used to attach the camera to the flash when mounting the flash on a bracket or elsewhere and gluing another hotshoe onto the top of the piece that attaches to the camera so that they then can insert a Double Bubble Level such as the one made by Hama. Check out Arthur Morris's website for a picture of it. I konw others sell it, he is just the one I thought of off the top of my head.

Chas...think I could get in on one of those hotshoes also?

Brian, I shoot only birds. My flash is ALWAYS attached and fully charged at the beginning of a shoot. When I do not need it, I turn it off :P .
