Oops, is this the wrong forum ... just kidding.

After walking a few miles with my LowePro (at 28 lbs) on my back I started looking into building some type of Photo BackPack Dolly.

I've come across a few Foldable/Protable Golf Pull-Carts that are just 7lbs and look to be able to accomodate some of your biggest backpacks (with a minor adjustment or two).

Wanted to know if anyone has already done this?

Yes, I have. The only issue is that you need to add more support because the pack is wider and shorter than a gold back. What I did was add a cross brace of thin plywood and then added some webbing which fits the LowePro perfectly. Just clips in. Did not worry about the tripod.

Brian,

I read a write up some where about six weeks ago about someone using a jogging baby stroller. He had bought one to accommodate twins and added some more velcro.

My daughter-in-law gave me one for a single child. The only problem with it is that it doesn't collapse and won't fit in my car.

I bought a Tamrac 972 (I think). It has wheels and is the largest thing that should fit on a commercial aircraft. I used it over the weekend and it worked well. Larger wheels would be better, but these work pretty well.

Now to figure out which clothing bag a Gitzo 410 will fit in. :D

Check out: http://www.splashdance.com and go to Kayak Carts. I bought the cart. It has inflatable tires which is great on sand. It becomes a comfortable chair when your equipment is not on it, and it is featherweight. My 600mm with two bodies, tripod and other accessories, bungees comfortably in place. Seems like the right thing for the job.

Mark,

Thanks for that link to the Kayak Cart. More $ then the golf cart but much more flexible.

Hands down one of the better options I have seen. I think I'll be picking this one up and give it a test out at Barnegat.
Did you pick up any of their bungees? Their hooks seem to be a bit more sturdy then the norm.

I did buy two of their bungees which work perfectly. They can be cut to a desired length. You will love this cart. It will get you to locations with heavy equipment which, unless you are very, very strong, would be impossible. Good luck.
