This is a nice image John. It show up a little oversize on my screen as it appears to be 1010 x 677 pixels. I like the early morning atmosphere of it and the environment included. I'd consider cropping a little off the left.

I hear what you say about including the environment, but IMO the left side has a little too much negative space. Otherwise it's a very nice shot. Well done.

Lovely pose on the deer. I like a vertical crop with the deer on the left and the negative space on the right. Thanks for posting in Wildlife.

I like the behavior you've captured. I think the second post is stronger with the deer larger in the frame and it keeps enough environment to show where this guy lives.

I really like the repost. It is a stronger image with the crop you have done here.

Terrific action shot, especially the repost with just enough to show his habitat and keep him prominent. The light is really nice.

Hey Jogn,

I like the original post the best .. I don't think you can crop it from the left without cutting the small shrub in half, and I don't like that .. The repost is too tight I think .. you haven't really caught the buck in a strong enough pose to put him that dominant in the frame .. just minor stuff like the position of his legs, lack of room for his feet, etc .. he's not really in a dominant stance .. plus, that hightens the choas of the bush he's sniffing, with brances going everywhere ... the wide open environment works well for me in this shot.

Cheers

Carl

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Chopping the bush in 1/2 would be a nono, OTOH if you loosen up the recrop, the buck will end up centered and people will jump on you for that. For my money I like both of them.

The original post is the one for me. The bush makes a perfect compositional anchor. Very nice.
