Coyote
Jasper NP, Alberta, Canada

This was taken last month on the Jasper STL. We were driving the roads and saw pair of coyotes quite a distance away moving around several ponds. I waited for one to come into a clearer area on the pond and got a few quick shots. Taken out of the window with the camera balanced on a jacket I think.

Canon 10D with 500 f/4 IS and 2x TC MF with moderate crop. Thank you Dennis for driving and putting me into position to get the shot.

Pretty sharp for the equivalent of having a 1600 mm lens! This coyote is barely more than a dot with my 100-400. I like how you captured it mid-stride, with that "I'm on a mission" expression.

Cool shot of one of my favorite subjects!

Love the raised paw, and the shadow on the ice.

Well done!

One well-fed coyote! Love the intent look and the raised paw. (Here in NH coyotes will typically use the ice for their hunts, trying to drive a deer to the ice and then bring it down there. Deer don't run well on ice.)

Very cool shot and his fur is certainly voluminous to keep him warm!
