Whitetail Deer (Odocoileus virginianus)
Shenandoah National Park

10D, 100-300 f4.5-5.6, ISO 400, f11, 1/90, tripod.
Levels, USM. Cropped from vertical for presentation.

I posted a shot similar to this a few weeks ago. Same deer, different pose and crop, hopefully a little sharper.

Comments/critiques/suggestions welcome. Thanks for looking.

It looks too perfect! Great shot- I really like the grass at the bottom and the colors in the sky.

If I'd change anything, I'd give it a bit more room around the edges. But with a 100-400, you probably have one like that also.

Hey Chris,

The colors look a tad too saturated for me .. like something's not right in the contrast .. the blue in the sky looks later in the day given the angle of the light, and the color in the clouds. That is simply P/S stuff though, and personal preference.

I really feel silhouettes are some of the hardest shots to do, and this one is great.

Cheers

Carl

Thanks everyone for the comments. I think I lightened the sky to much when making my levels adjustments. I guess tired eyes got the best of me  I find sunrise/sunset shots difficult to get right since switching over to digital. I'm never sure when I've crossed the line between what I actually saw and overdoing it. I'll just have to keep practicing and I'll eventually figure it out :D
