A hectic schedule, which fortunately included some photography, has kept me from participating on NSN as much as I would like lately. Anyway, I thought some may have an interest in the following:

Your mileage may differ, but for me the Epson 2200 printer is one of the best currently out there. With the upcoming holidays, and for those looking to purchase a printer, you may want to consider the limited offer (three days) Buy.com is currently offering -- price $582.55 with free shipping. Here is a link to the offer:

Regards, Simon

PS -- Disclaimer, I have no affiliation with Buy.com other than being a satisfied customer -- again your mileage may differ and there may be better deals out there.

That's a good price. Mine has been happily printing away for almost a year now.

Oh yea, buy.com is a nice place. I got all of my wireless network gear from them.

I am salivating over the new Epson 4000 but $1700 is a LOT of money!

I too have been salivating over the 4000 just as EJ has been. I have had my 2200 for over a year now, and I just had to replace the print head on it. About $320... ouch... I am still having lots of clogging problems but at least I can clear them now. I think my 2200 may be reaching the end of it's life, which is far below the 20,000 page lifespan that epson claims.

But I would have to say that if I take into account the amount of $$$ spent on ink for the 2200 over the past year, I could have easily bought the 4000 and saved some cash... Although the 220ml cartridges that the 4000 can use cost about $110 each, they should many more prints per $ in inks.

I think the 4000 is in my future.

On a related note, I attended an Epson Print Academy half-day seminar last May. The presenter stated that the print heads in the Epson 2200 were the same as in the 7600/9600 printers, but probably not with the same close tolerances.

He then suggested UNOFFICIALLY that it should be possible to use Bill Atkinson's superb profiles for the wide format printers with the 2200. I commented that I had tried that, but got a greenish cast in the prints. He suggested that I align the print heads. I've done that but haven't tested the results with the BA profiles yet.

Has anyone else had any success using Bill's profiles with the 2200?

I'm with EJ. The 4000 looks terrific. I've been mulling over the idea of getting a 7600 for a while, but then I get pulled back to reality -- how often do I really print that large, and what is the total cost of doing so? I always end up deciding against the 7600. The 4000 looks more feasible, both with regard to print size and price.

If Bill Atkinson's profiles work with the 4000, it will sell like hotcakes!

I like the looks of the 4000 too. As for the price of the 2200, this is typical when a company releases something better!
