I'm not really that pleased with this image and in hindsight should have used a smaller aperature or actually a higher ISO since this is handheld. This has been sharpened much more than is my norm but since it's the only passable image I have of this guy up to this time I've tried to make it as good as I can.
Canon EOS 1D
Handheld
Sigma f2.8 70-200mm
ISO 400
Aperature Priority
Evaluative Metering -1/3
F2.8 @ 1/40 Sec.

What an awesome cat and a nice over the shoulder look. The only thing I wish wasn't there is those palm fronds on the left side of the frame.

Wonderful subject.. I think your self assessment is adequate. I would love to get a chance on one of these guys, in some light.. Geez at 1/40s any picture I would have been made would have been a pan blur...Good job and thanks for posting Harvey..

I really like the expression and composition. More DOF would be great.

Reminds me of Bageera from the Jungle Book! Good shot as is but if you can get the face sharper it will really be incredible!

The cat looks great. The pose looking back over the shoulder is perfect...just needs a little more DOF as you mentioned. I agree with EJ about the palm leaves.

My first thought also was of the Jungle Book. Great pose. I hope you get another chance for more portraits with more DOF.
