For about the last 3 years I have been travelling with two large Soft bags which carry an obscene amount of stuff w/o too much attention at the airport. Bag #1 is an Eagle Creek Monster Duffle which is a roundish bag- has really nice wheels and great zippers.
Bag #2 is a no-name rectangular bag which although soft sided--has some plastic to help keep its shape. I typically put my tripod and some gear into Bag #2 surrounded by outdoor clothes such as fleece etc.

Due to an act of vindictive feline urination (one of my cats peed in it) while I was at work for 13 hrs yesterday--I may be looking to replace bag #2. I like the rectangular flat top because I can put Bag #1 on top using those too small luggage carts at the airport and things balance out nicely.

I am looking for suggestions for to replace Bag #2 with--any suggestions would be appreciated!

OfficeMax used to have them for like $20 or $30. Theirs is built a bit better than Wal-Mart's. Got mine at OfficeMax.

Dick:

Funny you should mention Walmart--I went by there last night to see what they had. I did not trust what the zippers on what was in Walmart.

Rocky,

Money being no object, check out Patagonia's Freightliner Max. Has some shape, built-in retractable handle, is wheeled, is rugged and is $$$.

More economically, Cabela's has a pretty wide assortment of luggage, and their prices are about as good as anybody's, at least that makes pretty rugged stuff. http://www.cabelas.com, I believe.

I've tried generic soft luggage w/o handle and wheels, using separate wheeled cart. Whether personal cart or airport rental, I find those too much hassle. I'd go with integral handle/wheels.

Keep in mind the weight restrictions (50 lbs, 70 lbs, whatever) that seemingly are becoming universal; those might persuade you to go one way or the other.

For the ultimate in durability and big price tag check out North Face's heavy duty duffle and expedition bags.

I picked up a good duffle with wheels from Sierra Sports that holds a week of clothes, my Gitzo 1325 and some accesories. It has wheels and has held up well so far. I know Sierra Trading Post has them for about $50 on thier website - http://www.sierratradingpost.com

Try Costco. I picked up a 5 piece set in the fall. It has a duffel on wheels along with 2 rectangle cases on wheels. Also a toiletry bag and another one that you could use for a briefcase/laptop with wheels. All this for a very reasonable price.

The last time I checked cat pee was not caustic and should wash off fine. I assume your duffle is cordura nylon or something similar which is both waterproof and washable and nylon fibers are non-absorbant. A little laundry detergent would go a long way.
Just a thought as that act could repeat itself with the temptation of a new bag.

Thanks to all that replied:

Due to excessive holiday traffic I decided against a trip to target or the Office Max/Office Depot. I found a great deal at Sierratrading Post!
