Just got the closeup filter, and was testing it out. It's a little trilobite that I had collected in Oklahoma a few years ago, then prepped out of the matrix save for the little pedestal. Trilobites were once ubiquitous on the ancient sea floor - "cockroaches of the sea."

Neat little fossil! How large is it? I think the BG color is OK.

About 1/2 inch long - the background was just the 3-ring binder I had on hand. I'll be getting something better when I photograph gemstones in the next few weeks.

Very nice shot. I like the details in the subject but I find the background color over powering. I really like how you prepared the fossil. Great work.

Nice shot- a very attractive subject. The 500D is a great tool for quick macro setup when you have the long lens on.

Wow, this is a nice trilobite. Presented very nicely and I would love to see it again with a more subdued BG color. Great documentation shot.

Nice museum type shot. I agree with the others about the background. Nice shot of a cool subject.

IOts a cool shot but it needs quite a bit of USM to bring out the texture in the rock and fossil.

Very cool shot. 8) 8) 8) Nice background and great placement of the rock with the fossil in the frame. It could have perhaps used a tiny bit of USM, but still it is a very nice shot. This is one thing I like about the forum. It is expanding my horizons with respect to subjects for macro photography. :D
